THE 2014 S&L YOUTH CAMP AT TLCC

Six Weekends of Survival and Language for 6-12 years old.

 Starting April 26 weekend and all 5 weekends of May.

Pick up point at Starbucks Magallanes at 8 every Saturday.  Drop off same place at 5 every Sunday.  (Please expect some flexibility in the times, these will be communicated to all campers’ parents the week before)

1: Gardening weekend: / forestry / compost taught by Earthkeepers Garden or their trainee and Forester Jen Edrial  (some harvest is expected by the end of the six weeks)

2.  Camping and survival skills: Making a fire, knots, camp fire cooking, wildlife identification, ant farms for the younger kids, nature observation and interaction.

3: Fishing: Gill netting, hook and line, if they are lucky, spearfishing.  Also gutting a fish and grilling it.

4. Bamboo work and other projects – kids will have bamboo projects including parol, kite and simple pencil holder making, if ready, kids can make their own “kadang” or stilts and learn how to use them.  Kids will also work on the TLCC playground creating the Hydrophis semperii, an endemic sea snake out of tires.
5. Disaster Readiness for kids.  Disaster information, participation in planning, building their own disaster kit,  and getting involved in their own ways.  Includes demo on the use of a fire extinguisher.

6. Water sports: kayaking, sailing wind-surfing, etc. taught by industry leaders in these sports

There will be a camp director and team leaders (one adult and one teen-ager)

P22,000 per child for the whole course.  P4,000 per weekend.  This fee is all inclusive with bus transfers from Magallanes.

Discounts available for second sibling participating or referrals who register.  Batangas residents can waive cost of bus transfers and get a discount of P250. per weekend.  No guarantees are given as to proficiency in the language after the course but certainly a guarantee that your child will be able to interact comfortably with people outside his social sphere.  They will also learn to interact with the local community.
